The position is part of the interuniversity collaboration program H-INT-S, sponsored by the Strategic Initiative Materials (SIM) of the Flemish Government, focussing on molecular understanding by simulation of interfacial properties in polymer based composites. The PhD program usually takes four years.
Project
You will use available molecular and coarse grained simulation methods, including the adaptive resolution scheme, to determine by simulations the properties and morphology of polymers systems at interface.
When needed, you will extend and adapt existing methods, and develop new simulation algorithms.
You will be involved in the comparison of your simulation results with experimental data obtained by other researchers in the project.
Profile
We welcome the application of highly qualified graduates with a Master's degree or comparable qualification in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Sciences or adjacent fields.
A strong interest for multidisciplinary research is required.
Experience in programming (C++ or Fortran) and using Linux will be considered as an advantage.
Good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written, is essential.
Offer
You will be guided on a daily basis by a postdoctoral researcher and will work in a multidisciplinary team.
You will make use in your research of the Tier 2 HPC research facilities of the KU Leuven and of the Tier 1 research facilities of the Flemish Supercomputer Centre (VSC).
